Sarah ‘Waffle Burger’ Messenger (b. 1985) received her BA hons in Time Based Art from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2008 and for the past two years she has been painting at Leith School of Art. Known for her highly expressive and unexpected juxtapositions, Waffle’s work expresses a dialogue between disparate elements of pop culture that reflect the ways in which information is consumed and filtered through the collective online experience.
From dramatic multi-layered scenes to simple introspective symbolic language, her work populates a world of manipulated and crafted images within dream-like landscapes.
